Scholarships

The Friends of Oakland Foundation is honored to support higher educational opportunities. The Friends of Oakland Foundation not only provides scholarships directly from the FOOF treasury raised through fundraising and memorials given; but also, is able to facilitate scholarships on behalf of donors who dictate the scholarship terms and dollar amount.
The Lloyd Lindquist Scholarship
This scholarship is a $5000 scholarship given from the Lloyd Lindquist Estate. Lloyd graduated from Oakland High School and served in the United States Navy. He was employed for many years within the Boeing company and returned to Oakland to care for his aged mother upon retirement.
Normil Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is a $1500 scholarship given on behalf of Betty Starr and her husband who founded the Normil Foundation. The Normil Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting religion, economic development, education and agriculture in the Oakland and Lyons communities.
Marian Bolin-Fritz Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is a $1000 given in memory of Marian Bolin-Fritz. Marian graduated in 1939 from Oakland High School. Marian met her husband Ferdinand Fritz in San Francisco during World War II. For the next 20 years, Fritz served in the Air Force transferring to various military bases throughout the US and Puerto Rico. Relocating back to California, Marian worked as a corporate bookkeeper for the Broadway Department Store for the next 25 years. Marian’s family established the Marian Bolin-Fritz Scholarship.
Clarence and Marion Goracke Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is a $1000 scholarship given in memory of Clarence Goracke. Clarence was a longtime educator teaching math here at Oakland-Craig. He served in a variety of coaching positions. Clarence was best known for his time on the football field, coaching from 1955 -1964 as well as 1971-1984. In talking with former students and athletes, Clarence served as a mentor to many, influencing numerous lives.
Fred Christensen Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is a $1000 scholarship funded by Fred’s son, Max Christensen of Christensen Electric. Fred was a 1964 Oakland graduate and was an advocate of agriculture, trades, education and public service. Max provides electrical services for agricultural, commercial and residential needs in the Oakland area.

Adilen Rennerfeldt
Recipient of: The Lloyd Lindquist Scholarship
Parents: Andy & Angie Rennerfeldt .
Future Plans: She plans to pursue a career in nursing with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner in dermatology. After attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for pre-health, she will continue to nursing school and specialize in dermatology and aesthetic nursing.

Amy Snader
Recipient of: Friends of Oakland Foundation Scholarship
Parents: Charles & Lisa Snader
Future Plans: She plans to attend the Entourage Institute of Beauty and Esthetics in Lincoln, NE to prepare to become a Licensed Esthetician.

Bailey Pelan
Recipient of: Friends of Oakland Foundation Scholarship
Parents: Jim & Danielle Pelan
Future Plans: Attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to study Human Development and Family Sciences on the Pre-Health/Nursing pathway for her undergraduate. Following, she will go to UNMC for Nursing for two years.

Brandi Helzer

Future Plans: She plans to become a veterinarian.

Braylon Anderson
Recipient of: Normil Foundation Scholarship
Parents: Joe & Wendi Anderson Attend Wayne State College and study business administration while playing football.
Future Plans: Attend Wayne State College and study business administration while playing football.

Brennan Ahrens
Recipient of: Jim & Carol Johnson Scholarship

Future Plans: Attend Wayne State College to participate in the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) for occupational therapy. Then attend UNMC to receive her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree.

Future Plans: Plans to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and then return home to teach at a local elementary school.
