Scholarships

“Scholarship is to be created not by compulsion, but by awakening a pure interest in knowledge.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Friends of Oakland Foundation chartered a Dollars for Scholars Chapter in 2001 which annually awards scholarships to Oakland area high school seniors.  The foundation is honored to support higher educational opportunities.  The Friends of Oakland Foundation not only provides scholarships directly from the FOOF treasury raised through fundraising and memorials given; but also, is able to facilitate scholarships on behalf of donors who dictate the scholarship terms and dollar amount.
